What I Stand For
These aren't just talking points. They're the issues I've lived as a teacher, a parent, and a member of this community.
Teacher Retention
We Can't Teach Without Great Teachers
The most important factor in a child's education is the teacher standing in front of them. Yet across Berkeley County, we are losing talented, dedicated educators to burnout, low pay, and a lack of support. That has to change.
As a former BCSD teacher, I know firsthand what it feels like to pour your heart into a classroom while wondering if you can afford to stay in this profession. I will advocate for competitive salaries that reflect the value of our educators, mentorship programs that support new teachers, and working conditions that treat teachers as the professionals they are.
When we invest in teachers, we invest in every single student they will ever teach. That's not a budget line. It's a commitment to our community's future.

Advocating for All Students
Every Child Deserves a Fair Shot
Every child in BCSD deserves a voice and a fair shot, regardless of their background, their zip code, their learning style, or their family's circumstances. Right now, that's not always the reality.
I will fight for resources to be distributed equitably across our schools, that students with special needs receive the services they are entitled to, and that no child falls through the cracks because of where they live or who they are.
Equity in education isn't about giving everyone the same thing. It's about giving every child what they need to succeed. I will keep that principle at the center of every decision I make on the board.
Equity means giving every child what they need to succeed, not just the same thing.
Holding Leadership Accountable
Transparency, Not Talking Points
Decisions that affect our kids and our schools need to be made in the open, with honest communication and real accountability. Too often, families and community members are left in the dark, hearing about major decisions after they've already been made.
I believe in transparent budget processes, clear reporting on student outcomes, and a board that explains its reasoning rather than hiding behind bureaucratic language. When things go wrong, and sometimes they will, I will say so plainly and work to fix it.
Accountability isn't about blame. It's about building the trust that our schools need to function effectively and efficiently. Our community deserves transparency.
Accountability builds the trust our schools need and our community deserves.
Giving Parents a Voice
Parents Are Partners, Not Outsiders
Parents are the first and most important educators in any child's life. Yet too many parents in BCSD feel like they are on the outside looking in, that their concerns are dismissed, their questions go unanswered, and the board operates without them.
I will change that. I'll push for regular, accessible community forums, not just formal board meetings, where parents can ask questions and get real answers. I'll make myself available, respond to concerns, and bring what I hear from families directly to the board table.
When parents are engaged, students do better. It's that simple. I'll make sure BCSD families always have a seat at the table.

From the Classroom to the School Board
I'm ready to bring a teacher's heart and a parent's voice to BCSD. I've spent my career in classrooms, and I'm raising my children in this community. I know what's at stake, and I'm ready to fight for it.
